Super Citrus Bath Salts

I've been on a bath salt kick lately.  This particular recipe came about when I had an extra bit of some sweet orange salts and lemon salts.  I really liked the colorful layered look, so I took it a bit further and layered up several colors and citrusy scents.

Don't let the long ingredient list fool you; these salts are easy to mix up.  But this does make a big batch of salts.  Get a nice, large jar to fill.  If it would take you forever to get through this much bath salt, feel free to half the batch.

Super Citrus Bath Salts
5 cups medium grain sea salt
5 teaspoons sweet almond oil
Sweet orange essential oil
Lemon essential oil
Grapefruit essential oil
Lime essential oil
Tangerine essential oil
Orange food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Red food coloring
Pink food coloring
Green food coloring

Place 1 cup salt in a bowl.  Stir in 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil (add a bit extra if you like your salts super emollient).  Add 3-5 drops orange food coloring.  If you can't find orange, you can mix your own by adding 2 drops yellow per 1 drop red in a teaspoon.  Drop this mixture into your salt.  Stir in approximately 25-30 drops sweet orange oil.  Mix well.  Pour the orange salt into your jar.

Repeat this process with each scent, pouring each layer directly on top of the previous one.  I like to match up scents to colors, i.e. yellow with lemon, pink with grapefruit, red with tangerine.  But you can switch it up if you like.

To use: Pour 1/2 cup salt into running bath water.  Soak for at least 20 minutes.

Yield: 10 treatments

Store in a tightly lidded jar.  Shelf life - approximately 4 months.
