Sugar Scrub Snowballs

Solid sugar scrubs are wildly popular right now.  If you've never used them before, you're in for a treat.  They work just like your typical sugar scrubs -- massage them over the body while you're in the shower and the sugar and oil leaves the skin super soft and smooth.  But, because they're solid, they're much easier to use and they are much less messy.

Today, we're making a solid sugar scrub into little snowballs.  They make darling wintertime gifts.  I love to
gift these in my favorite go-to package: a mason jar tied with ribbon.

The best part about this recipe is you'll be able to find everything you need locally at the craft store.

Sugar Scrub Snowballs
1/2 cup clear glycerin melt and pour soap base
1/3 cup sweet almond oil
1 1/2 cups white sugar
25 drops peppermint essential oil
1/4 teaspoon dried peppermint (you can cut open a peppermint tea bag for this!)

You'll also need:
wax paper

Step 1: Cut your soap base into small pieces, and measure out 1/2 cup.  Make sure your soap is packed tightly into your measuring cup.

Step 2: Pour the soap base into a small saucepan and add in the sweet almond oil.  Melt over low heat until the soap is completely melted.  This will take several minutes.  Stir gently every so often.

Step 3:  While the soap is melting, measure out the sugar into a separate bowl.  Add in the peppermint essential oil and the dried peppermint.  Stir well.

Step 4: Once the soap base is completely melted, remove from heal.  Immediately dump the sugar into the saucepan and stir like crazy!  Your mixture will tighten up and get thick fairly quickly; that's OK.  Just continue to stir as best as possible, until it's completely mixed.

Step 5: As soon as the mixture is cool enough to handle, it's time to start making your snowballs!  Scoop out about a tablespoonful and work into a snowball shape.  Remember, they don't have to be perfectly round.  They actually look more realistic when left a bit on the "rustic" side.

The mixture will cool as you work, and that's OK.  Just work your tablespoonful in your hands until it warms a bit, and continue making your snowballs.

Step 6: Set your snowballs onto the wax paper to cool and firm up.  this will take several hours.  Now, they're ready to package up or to use.

Make sure you label your snowballs with directions for use.  To use: take one or two snowballs into the shower.  Knead gently in your hand and massage over the entire body.  Rinse well.
