DIY Facial Serum Recipe: Homemade Anti-Aging Rosehip and Pumpkin Seed Facial Serum
As the weather starts to turn cooler, and the dry autumn winds pick up, your skin needs extra protection. This super rich serum will do just that. And with pumpkin seed oil and rosehip oil, it's so perfect for fall!
Pumpkin seed oil is a rich oil that coats your skin in emollient goodness. It makes a nice protective layer over the skin and helps plump up skin cells. Pumpkin seed oil is highly moisturizing and rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, so it's a great antioxidant oil.
Rosehips are those gorgeous, round fruit left behind on rose bushes after all the blooms have faded. (If you have rose bushes, don't deadhead them after August. You'll be rewarded with a bush full of brightly colored hips that last nearly all winter long.)
A ripe rose hip. Rose hips are actually the fruit of the rose bush. Rose hip oil is expressed from the seeds found inside this pretty orange fruit. |
Rosehip oil is a fabulous anti-aging oil. Rosehip seed oil is naturally high in vitamin C, which helps repair skin damage and stimulates cell regeneration.
Most large natural food stores will carry both of these oils, most often in the skin care aisle. You can also order them from online soap and herbal suppliers.

RECIPE: Rosehip and Pumpkin Seed Oil Anti-Aging DIY Facial Serum
A facial serum isn't a replacement for your regular moisturizer. Instead, use it as a nutritive boost for your skin.
Because this serum is fairly heavy, thanks to the pumpkin seed oil, you only need a few drops per use. A little bit goes a long way. I'd recommend applying it only at night, to allow it time to fully absorb into the skin.
